Venice and the Grand Canal

We were staying at the Hotel Pensione Guerrato while visiting in Venice.  They had a breakfast for the guests each day.  It was fun choosing what to eat from their menu.
We had a great time.  We had a tour of the Grand Canal in Venice in a gondola.  Our gondolier said his was Marco Polo.  He did a great job in getting us in and out of the side street (waterways) but using his one oar. A real skilled navigator.  All gondoliers wear the same style of costume and hat.  After our gondola trip, we took a motor boat tour of the Grand Canal of Venice and saw the city from one end to the other.

Later in the afternoon we went shopping for souvenirs for the folks back home.

Lots of boats, people and buildings
on the canal.
Marco Polo is his name.  We enjoyed our
gondola ride on the canal.  Rialto Bridge
is in the background.
