Florence, Italy - What a happy time!

We left for Florence, Italy at 8:00 a.m.  Arrived at the Piazza de Duomo (city center) All the towns in Italy have a city center.  We visited the Cathedral of Santa Maria and then to the Mercata Nuovo (market) where we found the Statue of Porchelino (Little Pig - cast in bronze). Tradition is "If you rub its nose, you will return to Florence."

Our next visit was to the Accademia - Museum of Art and Statues. This is where we saw the David. The David is 17' tall. He was carved in marble in 1501 by Michelangelo. In the 19th century (about 1800) the statue was moved inside the museum. We were not allowed to take pictures inside the museum. There is a replica in the town square that we were able to get pictures of.

Went back to the duomo and found a pizzeria and has some Italian pizza (what else when you are in Italy). Visited the San Lorenzo Market.  We stayed at the Frienza Lofts for the next two days while touring the city of Florence.

That was great pizza.  Anything else to eat.  Halle and Savannah had
fun writing on the walls as did everyone else at some time or another.
