Home on The Range
This saddle belongs to Lois Carlile of Woodland, UT. It is shown here as what a working saddle with the high back seat looked like, as well as two lariats used to rope cattle.

Reflections
I have been doing some reflecting on Christmas's past and felt like I should share some of my thoughts with each of you. The Christmas of 1960 is one that stands out in my memory bank. I was working as a Salt Lake City Police Officer assigned to the K-9 Corp with my faithful German Shepherd 'Kip".
We were living in a one bedroom basement apartment located at 2211 South 10th East, Salt Lake City, Utah. Your mother was pregnant with Alan and somewhat miserable. We had a small Christmas Tree in the living room which, by the way, took up most of the space. What makes this Christmas stand out in my mind is that 5 days after Christmas on December 30, 1960, we had gone to Sugarhouse to do some after Christmas Shopping. It was a beautiful sunny day and we enjoyed being outside.
Later that evening we made a nighttime run to the LDS Hospital as Mom had gone into labor We arrived at the hospital without too much time to spare as Alan was born within the hour after our arrival. After a few days at the hospital, Alan and his mother were able to return home to a clean house as I had taken the opportunity to put away all the Christmas decorations and make our little apartment ready for the arrival of our son. In February 1961 we moved into our home at 1476 East 4200 South where we lived until our move to Summer Hill Court on June 5, 1977

Noel W. Peterson Brand Irons
These are the Peterson branding irons. The one on the left is Fred A. Peterson CrowFeet brand that was used on his horses, cattle, and sheep. The iron on the right is Noel W. Peterson NP brand used on his horses and cattle. He had a smaller hand held brand that was dipped in paint and placed on the wool of the sheep

Timpanogos at Sunset
It has been raining for the past couple of days in American Fork with snow predicted above the 8000 foot level. This afternoon the storm broke, the clouds cleared and the sun came out in the early evening. There was quite a bit of snow dumped on Mt. Timpanogos. It makes a beautiful picture of fall in American Fork.

Alpine Loop - September 2008
Last week we took the Hatches and drove over the Alpine Loop to look at the turning autumn leaves. We are official leaf peepers. We were a little late or they hadn't started to turn yet. Then last week took a drive to Woodland to visit Aunt Lois. The leaves around her ranch are beginning to turn yellow and drop. Picked some elderberries and am making jelly this week, so guess what you get as a Christmas gift.

Bev and I had a terrific day in the mountains in and around Woodland and visiting the Carlile Ranch during the Fall days. Lois has a very pleasant and serene place on the Provo River. We have had many enjoyable days visiting with Lois.
